Stoddard Valley climb 2   Toyo
This clip shows all four of the Toyo tires on climb 2 at Stoddard Valley on both the
ascent and the descent. This was the second run for the Toyos. The first run was
not completed, but Malcolm took a different line and was stopped by a rock acting
like a wheel chock. Dale, our SBNFA observer noticed this, so we did a re-run
with very different results. The line up a climb like this really does matter!  Watch
for the amount of wheel spin and tire compliance over rocks. On the descent,
watch for wheel lockup. The amount of dust is a way to determine the amount of
traction. More dust means less traction. The Toyo Open Country A/Ts had more
problems with this climb. Malcolm comments that on the climb the BFGs had
fairly poor traction and steering control with a very bouncy ride. On the descent
they had fairly poor traction with excessive lockup and a very bouncy ride.
